I’m the creator of Shamelessly Seeking Attention and The Sound of a Social Climbing Nun. I’m back in a brand-new show about the joys and frustrations of travel.
I’ve set foot on all seven continents. I’ve got drunk from eating French fries, and had dinner with a cross-dressing nudist. I’ve witnessed resurrections on the hour in a South American city where you can rent hotel rooms by the hour.
From militant coffee mugs to Communist lemonade; from a giant prawn to a gigantic cask; from Paradise to Paraguay; from Katharine Hepburn’s Oscars to Cher’s dressing room playset, I tell it as it was. I go back to the days of traveller’s cheques, aerogrammes and when calling home meant 10 coins and 20 seconds of garbled conversation in a freezing telephone booth. And I talk fondly, with humour and pathos, of the friends who made every little disaster worthwhile.
