I’m at Brasserie Petanque, Buenos Aires, in 2007, with my Beef Bourguignon:
Even better was Lomo Roll Dashi, a Japanese-Argentine dish, from the Dashi chain of sushi restaurants. Thinly sliced moist filleted beef from the Pampas, wrapped around spinach, oozing melted cheese, blended with mushroom, rice and onion.
I don’t know why it was taken off the menu. Maybe someone thought it didn’t belong in a sushi restaurant. It was worth crossing an ocean and two continents.
Brasserie Petanque also had this …
… though not everyone in South America was as sentimental about beef.
